First Upon a Time

Cindy Shapiro, Composer/Librettist/Producer

Cindy Shapiro is a multi-faceted artist who has: sung in seminal rock bands in NYC; been a game developer; worked as a Cantor; taught music; performed all over the world with major symphony orchestras; worked as a choir maestra; sung on soundtracks; and composed.



 

Michael Matthews, Director

Michael Matthews is a visionary director coming out of the Chicago theater discipline. He recently won the 2012 Ovation Award for Best Director of a Musical for The Color Purple the Musical. He has been at the helm of groundbreaking theatrical productions such as: The Women of Brewster Place, for which he won an NAACP award; The Bacchae, which he mounted to great acclaim at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival; and the Ovation Award-nominated production What's Wrong With Angry.  

 

Janet Roston, Choreographer

Janet Roston is a multi-disciplinary choreographer. She won the 2012 Ovation Award and NAACP Award for Best Choreography of a Musical for The Color Purple. As a choreographer on television promos/commercials she received two American Choreography Awards. Janet has created choreography for productions at SoCal theaters including the International City Theater, Celebration Theater, Matrix and the Odyssey.  As Director/Choreographer she has mounted productions in Boston, Austin and locally at Sacred Fools Theater, the Lillian Theater, and the King King.
Her choreography has been presented internationally in London and Cannes as well as nationally at many Universities and Performing Arts Centers.

 



Jack Wall, Music Director​/Producer

Jack Wall is BAFTA nominated composer for video games, film and television. Credits include Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Mass Effect and Myst. He co-created the symphonic touring show Video Games Live and is a well-respected orchestral conductor. He also happens to be Cindy's husband. Cindy and Jack spend hours after a hard day's work listening to one another's creations. It's an interesting life.

 

 

Andrew Carlberg, Producer

Recently named by Variety alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Mindy Kaling and Andy Samberg as one of "Hollywood's New Leaders," Andrew Carlberg is an award winning feature film, television, new media, Broadway and Los Angeles stage producer.  His numerous credits include Broadway’s Romeo and Juliet, the feature film Some Girl(s) (written by Neil LaBute), DirecTV’s Full Circle, and the Ovation Award winning LA intimate theater premiere of The Color Purple: The Musical.

 

 

Rebecca Eisenberg Associate Producer/

Stage Manager

Rebecca Eisenberg is a Los Angeles based producer and stage manager. With a passion for developing new works, she has been a part of many award winning world premiere productions including, Justin Love (LADCC Award, Best Production), The Trouble With Words (Ovation Award, Original Lyrics and Music; Hollywood Fringe Award, Best Musical), The Real Housekeepers of Studio City (Best of Hollywood Fringe), and most recently Bronies: The Musical which was awarded Best Musical and the Golden Producer/Director award at The Hollywood Fringe Festival. Rebecca is also the Producing Director for Celebration Theatre and the Production Manager for Coeurage Theatre Company.
